Urgent plumbing repairs

First step for any water leak: turn off the water at the main. For a gas smell, turn off the gas at the meter.

What should I do first if a pipe bursts?
Turn off the water at the main to stop the flow. Then move valuables away from the water and call us.
Where is my water main?
It's usually near the water meter at the front of the property, close to the street. It's worth finding it before you need it.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Turn off the gas at the meter, open doors and windows, and avoid switches or naked flames. Never try to repair gas faults yourself.
